Rhinoplasty Newark
Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is a procedure that reshapes the nose when a patient desires an improvement in appearance, proportion, or contour to their nose. Bumps in the nasal bridge can be removed, and the nostrils can be narrowed. Patients interested in rhinoplasty surgery will meet for a consultation with one of our board certified plastic surgeons at Advanced Plastic Surgery Center and Nouveau Cosmetic Center. Together, you and your surgeon will discuss your desired nose shape and evaluate your facial structure. Because the nose is a prominent, central facial feature, balance is important. Your bone structure, facial shape, and age are all factors that will be discussed during the surgical consultation.
Highlights
- More balanced appearance to the face
- Can alleviate breathing difficulties
- More refined shape to the nose
- Often combined with face lift, fat transfer, and eyelid surgery
Procedure
During the rhinoplasty procedure, the surgeon makes incisions to the inside of the nostril to minimize external scarring. Next, bone and cartilage is added or removed for better nose shape and support. After the nose has been recontoured, the incision is closed and a splint is applied, enabling the nose to keep its shape during the healing process. Rhinoplasty may be conducted on an outpatient basis and the surgery generally lasts two hours. Patients most often resume their normal activities in 7 to 10 days after rhinoplasty surgery.
Results
Rhinoplasty helps bring more balance to a person’s face, as well as improve functionality of the nose for patients with breathing problems or birth defects.
